pastor mentioned something to me abt family last week abt how our church is like our home, and the church leaders are our parents thus, it is important to treat our church like our very own home :)
just like what we should do at home, we should greet our church leaders first thing we step into the church, if not it would be like bringing our friends into our rooms without greeting our parents, that sorta scenario.. sama sama..
pastor is accountable for all of us, thus letting her know abt what we r doing in church and our reason for meeting in church is the basic step
i guess stuff like these have to be learned through watching and observing our leaders, following in their footsteps.
yay tonight i finally get to go home for dinner after one month of eating out! finally have more time to myself! Season three of 24 here i come.. muahahahah!

i can't load my blog page.. no idea why..
attended my friend's ntu hall play last night, it was a great performance overall, i guess a lot of effort was put into the play! we were all giggling to ourselves when she came on stage as the lead actress, in her serious acting mode.. it was pretty weird, she was always the life of the party, the crazy girl who was always being teased haha.. now she's playing the role of a girl playing hard to get.. hahaha..
but on a lighter note, there were a few really hot girls present last night hhaha! i cant imagine myself in NUS in august..
anyway.. it was great catching up wif my ex schoolmates. everyone's growing so fast in maturity, and horizontally too. haha.. most of them are working temporary in shenton way, already introduced to the working life in the central business district. the girls my age are already finishing their 2nd year in uni. how time flies. it felt like yesterday when we were sleeping in our lecture theaters, skipping classes, talking nonsense at the school void deck, checking out girls, playing soccer/basketball, skipping more classes, CCA!

one thing i wouldnt wanna rem is the food in acjc hahaha..

anyway, a big shoutout to all those who came down to help out at ytd's brunch out event!! greatly appreciated!!!!
ytd was one crazy day! jam packed, tiring, fun filled!
started off wif JYC BRUNCH out, then it was YC service, then off to captain's ball, ended off wif Simon's farewell BBQ in church!
it was amazing how we cleared hundreds of chairs from the LIVING ROOM, how we set up 5 stations in merely 15 mins.. has to be from God.. although not many ppl brought friends to the event, but i really wanna thank God that everyone who came enjoyed themselves and really put their effort in competing.. thank God no one was injured too! and.... the foood! oh my gosh. the food was super good la! chao's burgers and fries! the endless flow of root beer floats! banana splits! for 2 bucks.
yc was great too! i was feeling really really sleepy during yc.. but thankfully Matt Rawlins had some interactive stuff to show us, if not.. confirm KO.
captain's ball after service! wah havent exercised for eons due to my back injury.. today i was finally back in action! haven't had so much fun in a long time le! so much more practical to exercise and have fun at the same time! but i think my nett gain/loss in calories was ZERO ytd haha.. as we had 2 bbqs in one day! haha..
yeah after captain's ball was simon's farewell bbq! had a great time sitting around the basketball pole just talking nonsense haha.. talking abt how Anton uses 50% of his brain while everyone uses only 10%.. how May got excited unnecessarily hahahaha.. we played boggle too! really love boggle as it forces me to use the brain that i left in storage for 2 years of NS.
anyway back to work again, had so much difficulty dragging myself out of bed today, my whole body's aching as well! i feel as though my hips can crumble anytime, and my legs can cramp any moment.. oh my legs cramped in the middle of the night..but i just slept the pain away.. too tired to even stretch it off..
gonna attend this play tonight at raffles hotel, some ntu hall play which my friend's apparently the lead actress.. hahaha.. there's jyc meeting tmr too.. another packed week again, i miss home cooked food haha

the people at my site are having a fire/chemical spill drill now..
everyone's armed with a walkie talkie each.. using the walkie talkie, they are supposed to locate the spill/fire and report and assess the situation..
mind you, 3/4 of the ppl at my place are foreigners who speak broken english
so.. the conversation was a little.. confusing..
couldnt understand a single word they were saying.. until.. i heard something that struck me in the face haha..
later i found out what it really meant.. it was supposed to be "Cordon off the area with spillage"

i rem how tany and I had planned for ytd, and how we had planned for other stuff like bowling, timecrisis3, swimming, tennis, many many activities.. but things didnt turn out as planned, something wrong wif my tv, couldnt play any ps2 shooting games, it was drizzling as well..
BUT
God had his plans for us, His itinery was so much more fun than expected, activities just came coming in one by one :) endless fun :) stuff like charades and bauderdash weren't even part of our plans :) but it just came on the spot..
it was like a mini cell grp, wif tany as our cell grp leader :) hahaha.. i guess these days are precious moments where we will take wif us forever, imagine 10 yrs down the road, and we might come together again and recollect this very day,
when yingnuo was a crazy edison fan, might still be 10 yrs later when tany pursed his lips and did a cleopatra (talk abt being girly) when sam did her britney spears dancing finger and her patrick pose :) when miaofeng did aunty TLC's heart warming tears when victoria did her ANNA NICOLE SMITH!!! and garfield pose (i thought MEOWfeng would have done that) when lionel did his little mermaid pose that STUNNED everyone hahaha! lionel's gifted with his on-the-spot humour! when julian gave his definition of septugenarian as a person from Neptune and who is vegetarian hahahah.. when alysson did a much better version of a Felicia Chin pose than me, although im a 500% Felicia Chin Fan! haha..
10 yrs later, i'll be 30 yrs of age, Tany and Yingnuo will still be 12 yrs old hahahaha..
alysson and julian will be 24/23.. wow.
maybe yingnuo will be a toolbar inventor, tany will be a lip model sam will join kidscentral with andy (paedophile) hahahaha vic and miao will be netball coaches haha.. anyhow whack aly and julian will still be studying lionel will be on his way to becoming a 3-star world renowned chef
benwu and may will become fashion designers/artists/graphic designers i dunno..
so exciting to look into the future, tany has his plans marked out already, wonder what's mine
talked to andy abt it, I told him that similar to Tany, I've asked God abt relationships, and God told me to wait 3 years, i will be 23 then. 3 years to build friendships and He will lead me to the girl that's best for me, 3 years to commit and prepare myself, 3 years to fight temptations and become a stronger person, 3 years might be a long time, but it's just enough time for me to mould myself to become a better person :) and it starts now :)

i dislike the feeling of my brains just wanting to shut off immediately, but it just can't, coz i'm working?
i was so tired today. had jyc meeting the night b4, came back late, just so tired, so many things on my mind.
went to jurong point during lunch hours today to upgrade my atm card, had to take a bus there.. when i got to the bus stop, i sat down, cupped my hands to my cheeks, and fell asleep immediately.. first time i managed to fall asleep in that position..
so many things happening this week, and the weeks to come, headache! birthday presents to get as well.. headache! need to shop soon..
just can't wait for cny to come, to grow fatter and loosen up my brain cells a little, so that i can actually sit down and think for once :(

2nd post for the day,
it's raining like siao at my workplace now, just counting the minutes away before I knock off, planned to start running today, but the weather won't permit me to :( oh well..
anyway really wanna thank Miao for helping me to plan for the diving trip :) thanks Tany and Nicole for giving tips and suggestions :)
there's gonna be a 50% chance that we'll be going to dive, due to the fact that by the time the monsoon season ends, some of them might have already started sch in JC, many other factors to consider as well :( pray that God would give the GO ahead signal for us.
after talking to some of the teens in church, i must say that they have really really grown a lot! can see how they put God first in their lives, how they trust God in every situation, stuff that I cant manage to do sometimes.. God is building an army.

might be planning a diving trip this march, really want to learn to serve the younger ones by planning everything out, logistics and stuff, but it's gonna be really tough, coz it's my first time doing it.. hopefully all those who said they were interested can make it.. but the cost of the basic open water diving course is kinda high.. 500 bucks. argh! but i guess it's worth it..
if it doesnt turn out well, i guess it's back to the Hong kong trip Joses and I were initially planning, but we decided that diving was more worth it.. haha
so looking forward to the days ahead!! -CNY! -Church Anniversary! -V DAY!?? hur hur.. -Diving TRIP?? -BRUNCH OUT!!!

jyc meeting last night was great :) haha i think i was on an eating spree b4 the meeting started.. tany bought back ToriQ, rice wif japanese kebab haha..dunno what's it called then the english congregation had this alpha course going on, we had left over buffet to whack! then.. william ta pao carls jr back and left his food on the table hahaha.. i couldnt help it.. :P
and i told myself i wanted to cut down on my food intake :(
anyway.. jyc meeting ytd was mainly abt this sunday's plans, the topic was vday ..
yeah i really learnt alot from Ian Wong last night.. -he talked abt the difference between LOVE and ATTRACTION -we spotted probable questions the jycers were gonna ask on relationships, like " what should I do if I like this girl/boy" and vice versa " are looks very important?" " must i find a gf/bf from church?" those kinda questions you will ask when ur fifteen? but we realised that this new batch of jycers are asking these questions at 13 already.. joel concluded that it was due to the internet.. very true..
anyway.. Ian was saying something like "what you like now, might not be what you like next time"
yeah and tany and sharon will be sharing :)
oh oh! Lionel just joined jyc ministry!!!! everyone was kinda tired during the meeting, then lionel would come up wif funny comments suddenly, and everyone wud just start laughing!
oh we wanted to come up with a name of the burgers we're gonna make for a jyc event at the end of the month..chao was gonna be our mascot haha! or rather, our brand :) so out of our heads, we came out wif names like "CHAOTA Burger" or "CHAOJI Burger" as chao had really short hair due to a mistake by his barber, someone suddenly said "BOTAK CHAO burger", the idea from Botak Jones, an american fastfood chain.. and lastly, the burger branding awards goes to william! everyone had just finished laughing from BOTAK CHAO,aching on our sides, when william suddenly said.. "CHAO's JUNIOR" wahahhahaa.. we laughed our guts out... man! and lastly, i was made the games IC for the event.. being the most unimaginative, non-creative person in that meeting, i think i really need God for help..

i think we need to come up wif activities to do at night with minimal expenditure.. (besides playing cards in church of course)
- night cycling? - window shopping?? (it might end up more costly than expected) - renting DVDs and watching at someone's house - sentosa?

anyway captain's ball season is coming right up!! one of the few activities that really bond everyone together regardless of whether we can play well or not.. ive played inter-class captain's ball in jc.. and i must say that the atmosphere and style of playing is totally different..
in jc, it would be so rough, that guys can end up rolling on the floor, girls end up crying after being scolded.. ive seen so many bad incidents.. too competitve liao..
whereas in the inter-church captain's ball, although it's as competitve, we always remind ourselves to put God first in the game, and a spirit of giving in i guess.. although there will be one or two squabbles, but it always ends up with forgiveness and shaking of hands :) that's what I like abt church commnuity :)
was chatting online with Sam this morning, abt how free we are right now.. and come April, everyone will have a new path to walk.. Andy's going into NS! take care bro! Lionel's still in sch, work attachments! Sam, yn, miao, vic will be schling.. ok actually not everyone, ben and may will still be working! im not alone! .. but things will be a little different.. but ive come to realise.. God's never changing, He's always there waiting for me, waiting to hang out with me :) waiting to speak to me through His word..
then come August, God will guide me into my new phase in life.. UNIVERSITY! life wud be so hard haha.. considering i havent studied for almost 3 yrs.. didnt really study in JC though hahaha.. but.. havent really used my memory power for almost 3 yrs.. tt's why i have short term memory.. lol.. 7 more months! ive decided to join ROCKCLIMBIING! hahaha.. maybe Ultimate Frisbee :) see where God leads me :)

sometimes i wish i cud be that person, that life would be so easy, that I could do everything I wanted to, but then again, that's not going to be life on earth, but in heaven :)

haha last night was mad, 8 ppl chatting in the same convo.. brain's still messed up now
anyway, a few of us had this v day talk.. yes.. again.. haha.. V Day was meant to be spent wif friends, initially not for couples.. but i guess due to the bz lives of we human beings nowadays, we need a special day set aside for our loved ones, just putting aside our bz schedule to breathe, and say I Love You... if only everyday was V Day hur hur..
oh wait, actually God spends V Day wif us every single day of our lives, when we wake up, He says I Love You, when we are down, He says I Love You, like an earthly father, He says I'm Proud Of You, before you sleep, He says I Love You..
oh btw i removed the previous post, coz after reading it again, i guess my opinion's too biased..
i just pray that friends in church will support each other, care for each other
anyway, i was super tired this morning on my way to work.. my method of transport to work is bus-mrt-bus.. on the 2nd bus to my work place, which usually takes 10 mins, i fell asleep unknowingly.. then suddenly I heard my name being called "Matthew!", i woke up to see the bus leaving the stop im supposed to get down at... managed to stop the bus in time..

woohoo ytd was yet another great day in church! got to listen to my siblings' sharing of their trip in myanmar during jyc! so proud of theM!
yc was great too! worship, more myanmar trip sharing by polar, miao and julian!
we managed to catch the ASEAN cup finals in church, small tv wif fuzzy reception haha.. but the company was great, all the peeps older than me haha...
anyway everyone was so funny la.. giving super funny comments.. like when the commentor was saying the name of the thai stadium, "Supachalasai Stadium", joel wong immediately went.. "Super Jialat Sai" stadium.. hahaha..
then there was this thai player.. the name on his jersey read "nutnum", ian wong pui and I just looked at each other and started giggling hahaha.. if u dun get it, it's cool.. lol
yeah and there was this thai player thonglao, super rough la.. out to murder every singapore player that night haha.. i think he did a headbutt too.. but wasnt caught.. showing off his muaythai skills lor, even the thai goal was a bit muaythai.. ONGBAK!! anyway.. the funny part was when indra sahdan was so pissed at that dude that he provoked him until he got a yellow card, and he wasn't even playing haha.. i think he even gave the referee a big smile and thumbs up when he got the yellow card.. oh well
anyway the best part of the match was the free macdonalds dinner we had, courtesy of macdonalds delivery haha.. we ordered way before the match, but they delivered it to Ian wong's house one hr later, when all of us were in church,sooo.. as compensation for their blunder, they delivered to us in church foc, food was foc.. yeah..

this week just flew past at jet speed.. too fast.. don't want it to end so quickly.. not because of work, but bcoz of friends that made this week so special :) thank you guys :) one of the busiest and most fun week of my life.. but there are pros and cons as well... didnt get to see my family much this whole week, tts why im spending my saturday with them :)
aiight anyway cell was really good ytd :) although i was pretty worn out from work.. God never fails to lemme learn something new every week :) oh i was in charge of games this week.. so ya, we played this game called Balderdash, not sure if i spelled it correctly, maybe one day we can play it after YC or something :)
how it's played: i went to dictionary.com to extract really really chim words that no one has seen b4.. then the gamemaster will spell/read out the word to those that are playing, and the players have to each come up wif a definition that they think best describes the word on a piece of paper. All the definitions are collected by the gamemaster(which was me last night), and i wud read out the definitons one by one, including the correct definition i got from dictionary.com, in random order.. then everyone gets to vote for the definition they feel is correct, 3pts if u get the correct one, 1pt if ppl voted for ur not so correct definiton so objective is to score as many points as possible, try to persuade ppl to vote for ur definition, making them believe it's the correct one..
sounds confusing but it's really fun..
we had words like "triskaidekaphobia" "digerati" "billingsgate"
the fun part was the crazy definitions provided by the players, which were from my cell for this instance.. haha
for "triskaidekaphobia", there were definitions like - fear of 3-legged insects (INSECTS WHERE GOT 3 LEGS ONE!!!!) - fear of standing on 3 legged stools (no comments) many other funny entries hahaa..
the correct definition for "triskaiedekaphobia" is.. fear of no. 13 hur hur..
next word "digerati", some funny ones - a type of prata (-.-") - an aboriginal instrument - comic character from digimon spoof digimoni -.-
correct definition of "digerati" is .. a person knowledgeble in computers
last one "billingsgate" - bill gates' mansion - a type of fence to prevent wildlife from escaping - credit card transaction - a person carrying luggage at the airport -.-

pastor taught us how to read the bible wif more depth, comparing different versions of Psalms 23
one funny example from "The Message"version was in Psalm 23 verse 5.. from New King James Version it reads
"You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over"
The Message version: "You serve me a six-course dinner right in front of my enemies. You revive my drooping head; my cup brims with blessing"
I think the author of "The Message", Eugene Peterson, is really accurate and down to earth wif his interpretation of the bible :) need to get The Message one day..

what a night ytd was.. at the kallang stadium..singapore vs thailand
the size of the crowd was the same as that last saturday at the singapore vs malaysia match.. 55,000 ppl! woohoO! but last night's crowd was a little more stoned and toned down than those at the malaysia match.. i wonder why hur hur hur.. i think i was screaming so much less than the malaysia match la.. probably bcoz there were so many girls from church near me.. very paiseh to show my angry side hahaha..
last night there weren't any ah lian cheerleaders, no crazy cheers from cool malay dudes at our side.. BUT.. there was this angry middle age irritating hideous singaporean behind queenie.. that bugger was cheering for Thailand the whole match.. i really felt like just shouting at his face and telling him to bug off to the Thai side.. i might have even done it if i was alone hahaha.. i think I need to repent.. too many angry thoughts in my sleepy head last night.. haha..
yeah and as everyone wud have already known by now, the Thai were sore losers last night, refusing to play on when Singapore won a penalty.. i was really blur at first.. i thought it was like Game End, or even Time Out .. hahhaa.. watch too many basketball games liao.. TIMEOUT -.- in a soccer match haha.. anyway.. yar the whole stadium was ROARRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!! and BUTOKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK! ahhaha.. and.. the Singapore Fans started singing the goodbye tune to the Thai team.. crazy man.. ugly fans hhaha.. oh well.. i think soccer really brings the nation together, not even National Day will give the same OOMPH!..
anyway.... i wonder what the atmosphere will be like over at Thailand... cant wait to read the papers today..
