this week just flew past at jet speed.. too fast.. don't want it to end so quickly.. not because of work, but bcoz of friends that made this week so special :) thank you guys :) one of the busiest and most fun week of my life.. but there are pros and cons as well... didnt get to see my family much this whole week, tts why im spending my saturday with them :)
aiight anyway cell was really good ytd :) although i was pretty worn out from work.. God never fails to lemme learn something new every week :)
oh i was in charge of games this week.. so ya, we played this game called Balderdash, not sure if i spelled it correctly, maybe one day we can play it after YC or something :)
how it's played:
i went to dictionary.com to extract really really chim words that no one has seen b4.. then the gamemaster will spell/read out the word to those that are playing, and the players have to each come up wif a definition that they think best describes the word on a piece of paper.
All the definitions are collected by the gamemaster(which was me last night), and i wud read out the definitons one by one, including the correct definition i got from dictionary.com, in random order..
then everyone gets to vote for the definition they feel is correct, 3pts if u get the correct one, 1pt if ppl voted for ur not so correct definiton
so objective is to score as many points as possible, try to persuade ppl to vote for ur definition, making them believe it's the correct one..
sounds confusing but it's really fun..
we had words like
"triskaidekaphobia"
"digerati"
"billingsgate"
the fun part was the crazy definitions provided by the players, which were from my cell for this instance.. haha
for "triskaidekaphobia", there were definitions like
- fear of 3-legged insects (INSECTS WHERE GOT 3 LEGS ONE!!!!)
- fear of standing on 3 legged stools (no comments)
many other funny entries hahaa..
the correct definition for "triskaiedekaphobia" is.. fear of no. 13
hur hur..
next word "digerati", some funny ones
- a type of prata (-.-")
- an aboriginal instrument
- comic character from digimon spoof digimoni -.-
correct definition of "digerati" is .. a person knowledgeble in computers
last one "billingsgate"
- bill gates' mansion
- a type of fence to prevent wildlife from escaping
- credit card transaction
- a person carrying luggage at the airport -.-
correct definition of "billingsgate" is.. foul language
hahaha.. anyway
pastor taught us how to read the bible wif more depth, comparing different versions of Psalms 23
one funny example from "The Message"version was in Psalm 23 verse 5..
from New King James Version it reads
"You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over"
The Message version:
"You serve me a six-course dinner right in front of my enemies. You revive my drooping head; my cup brims with blessing"
I think the author of "The Message", Eugene Peterson, is really accurate and down to earth wif his interpretation of the bible :) need to get The Message one day..
anyway, another bz great day in church tmr :)
siblings are sharing abt their mission trip, selling food in the morning, yc, ernest's brothers are coming :)
